Program Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
Youth Volunteers are individuals 14-19 years old and in high school. This also includes any of our specialty groups/community partners that collaborate bringing in high school groups to volunteer.
Volunteers will support the daily operations of in-gallery learning spaces by assisting in the set-up, break-down, and cleaning of activity materials. Volunteers will learn facilitation techniques and best practices for engaging visitors of all ages. In-Gallery Learning encompasses visitor programs across the Museum, including within Engineering Design Workshop (EDW), Hall of Human Life (HHL), Charles River Gallery Field Station, Garden Walk/Insect Zoo, and additional in-gallery learning spaces. EDW engages visitors in facilitated hands-on engineering activities designed to introduce visitors to the engineering design process and encourage visitors to think like engineers. HHL engages visitors in hands-on activities and interpretations, designed to help visitors explore biology and human health. The Field Station encourages visitors to explore the local environment with hands-on experiences in environmental science and biology. In the Garden Walk/Insect Zoo, In-Gallery Learning collaborates with the Garden Walk/Insect Zoo staff to provide unique experiences in insect biology to visitors.
